These seemed like an unlikely pair to me, but I recently rewatched Ridley Scott's Blade Runner for the first time after seeing Wall-E and the references shocked me because, well, they're really in there if you just watch (the 'new world' blimp thing?!). I just found it really interesting, especially after talking about dystopian movies (and Blade Runner/L.A. in one of my classes).
So if you have time watch the two. Or if you're short on time just read this. Looks like Wired got to it long before I did.
